Banana Cake

Hi fellow bloggers, How is everyone doing? Busy I'm sure, with all the holiday stuff. I've been busy myself.. Boy, the days are really flying by lately! I can't believe Christmas is so close now....

I had a big bunch of bananas on my counter that were really super ripe so I thought it was a good time to make a banana cake! Thought I would share....Here is the recipe!

1 1/2 sticks of butter
1lb brown sugar
4 eggs
cream until fluffy.
add 5-6 mashed bananas

4 cups flour
2 tsp baking soda
pinch of salt
add to creamed mixture
add 8 Tbsp sour cream
2tsp vanilla
1 cup chopped nuts
pour into greased tube pan

bake 350 degrees
for 1 hour or until done (I had to bake mine 1 hour 20 mins) but all ovens are different so check after 1 hour for doneness and go from there...

I used this tube pan but you could use a 9x11 or 2 8x9 pans too.
Here it is fresh out of the oven! Mmmmm.... it smells soooo good!
You can serve it plain like this, or if you want you can frost it with cream cheese frosting. We like it with frosting.

Cream cheese frosting:
1 stick butter (softened)
1 8oz cream cheese (softened)
1 tsp vanilla
3 cups powdered sugar
Blend until smooth
Add a bit of milk if needed
Hope you enjoyed my Banana Cake recipe.

Thanks for stopping by!
Blessings,

Milk Glass

It's "show and tell Friday" again over at Cindy's blog "My Romantic Home". Stop over and give her a visit and share in the fun.

Today I am showing some of my milk glass vases. I have about 19 vases. I collected all of these from the thrift store in my neighborhood. I LOVE milk glass!! And I LOVE searching for treasures at the thrift store!!

I started about a year or so ago and I usually find 1 or 2 each time I visit . I need to visit more often... lol. I had not been there in about six months and just started to go there again. I was trying to cut down on the amount of junk oops... I mean beautiful vintage collectibles that I brought into the house, lol. (we have a very small house with almost no storage space) so I have to be careful or things kinda pile up around here!

I also have other milk glass pieces that I found at the thrift store or other resale shops , like creamers and sugars and planters etc.. I'll have to share those in a future post...

Hope you enjoyed seeing some of my thrift store milk glass!

Have a great weekend!
Blessings!

The Christmas Tree

Here is a pic of our tree this year! I only put up the small white tabletop tree this year instead of the 7ft white one. Now that I have the finches in the dining room windows, I really don't have room for a larger tree. I'm really excited about the ornaments I found this year, or I should say the colors!! I am doing the tree in hot pink, turquoise, red, vintage green and orange!! I never thought that those colors would look very Christmas-e, but they do!!! I LOVE it!! Here are a few closeup pics!

This is why I LOVE having white trees!! You can change the colors of the ornaments or lights and have a whole different look each year! Look at that orange one! I love it!! lol. I never dreamed orange would be a good Christmas ornament color!
Here is one with the lights shut off! I couldn't find any tree skirts in hot pink (that's why I'm not showing the bottom of the tree in the photo) or any garland (that's why I used ribbon) but now I think I like the ribbon much better then garland anyway! I need to go to a fabric store and look for some fabric that would be good to wrap around the bottom of the tree!

I'm so into this new color palette for Christmas that I stated crocheting some pendant type garland in these colors! I will probably hang it on the wall along the back of the couch or maybe even along the tops of the windows above the tree! Not sure yet! Here is the yarn I'm using! It's turning out sooo pretty! I can't wait to share it with you!! I should have it all done in the next day or two so stop by and take a peek of my Christmas crochet idea!

Hope you enjoyed seeing my little tree!
Blessings!

Show and Tell Friday!

It's "Show and Tell Friday" over at Cindy's blog "My Romantic Home" ! Stop by her blog to add your link and join in the fun!

I would like to show all of you my vintage Christmas salt & pepper shaker collection.

I LOVE Red & Turquoise! And I LOVE vintage things , one of those things being "salt & peppers"!
I love Christmas decorations! Especially my salt & peppers! I wish I could leave them out all year around! I know many that collect vintage Santa's leave them out all year around but I just don't feel right about that! lol.
I collected most of these from ebay. I was totally addicted to ebay a couple of years ago! Since then I've had to curb my "ebay spending" so I haven't added any new Christmas salt & peppers in a while... :(
Hope you enjoyed seeing my little vintage treasures! I'll be sharing more Christmas themed posts all month. Stop by for a visit and don't forget to leave a comment! :)

Food Blogs

Hi everyone! I've neglected by blog all summer and I really miss blogging back and forth with all of you ladies so I decided to stop being so lazy and start posting again!! I promise I will try to post on a regular basis from now on! ;)

I've recently discovered how many Food Blogs there are out there! So many delicious recipes to try! I really don't visit any on a regular basis but I would like to start visiting some food blogs more often.... I'm getting tired of making the same old recipes over and over... The new Fall season is approaching quickly and it always puts me in the mood to cook and bake. Which got me to thinking about all of you blogging ladies out there... I was wondering how many of you have favorite food blogs that you visit.... So I decided to write this post about food blogs and recipes that we could share with each other. I would love for you to share some of your favorite food and recipe links!

Here is one of mine!
I like the recipes at simplyrecipes.com

One of my favorite recipes from there is the Chicken Parm! LOVE it!! I put it on a bed of angel hair pasta with plain spaghetti sauce, you could make your own sauce recipe or use jar sauce in a pinch ! I have to share my spaghetti sauce recipe with you in one of my future posts, it's the only one I like. So where do you get your favorite recipes from?

My New Baby Finches

Here is a pic of my new babies!! They look big in the photo! I don't know why... They are the littlest birds! I think their feathers were fluffed up in this photo because I had given them a dish of water shortly before the photo was taken and they all took a bath! It was dark and raining here yesterday so the pic is dark. I'll have to try to get a better, clearer photo of them. Hopefully we will get some sun here today!
I just love listening to my new birdies making that sweet beeping sound they make! So relaxing watching them too!
Have a great day!

I love Birds

I've decided to add two finches to our home! I LOVE birds! I've always loved watching wild birds and also decorating my home with bird decor, nests, eggs, bird houses, etc... I was at Petco the other day buying dog food and I noticed a couple of adorable little finches, I could not stop watching them, I got such a kick out of all the cute little things they do. After we got home I started reading about them on Google and decided I wanted a pair... I found a breeder in my area and I am going to pickup my new babies today or tomorrow, I'm waiting for the cage I ordered online to be delivered, it should be here sometime today! I'm so excited!!

Here is the progress on my ripple blanket! It's coming along nicely !!
Hope you have a wonderful day!
