Another Crochet Blanket Project

I couldn't resist starting another crochet blanket! Sometimes I just get the bug to start another blanket (even though I have plenty of other crochet projects to finish) I can't help it... Hehehe
I might see a pattern in a book or online, or visit someones blog and see the awesome crochet project that they are working on and that's all it takes , then I get all these ideas in my head about how awesome it would be to make one just like it!! LOL.
I LOVE crocheting! And I LOVE this motif pattern! It's so easy and you can pump out oodles of them in no time!
I came across the pattern HERE and decided to give it a try, It is almost the same as a Hexagon motif that I had made in the past except that it is a square.
I'm having fun making it and I'm also still obsessed with crocheted hearts! I've found some cute patterns online for so many different little hearts. I started making a few. I will share soon. I still cannot find any tree branches to paint white for my Valentine tree project. So.... I am not sure where I will be hanging my new little works of art..... :( I need a tree!!! lol! :)

Have a great day!

Crochet And Cobbler

Hi all! How do you like my little crocheted cupcake? I have seen so many crocheted cupcakes online, seems like everyone has made some in the past. I've always wanted to try making some but never got around to it( I mostly crochet afghans), but lately since I've been making Valentine crafts I've had the urge to make a cupcake, so here it is! The pattern is from HERE. They are so much fun to make!! I want to make more! I also found some ideas online for fabric cupcakes that I want to try making! Very whimsical and cute! I'll keep ya posted on that project!

This is my very first try at Amigurumi. One of my daughters loves owls so I thought I would give it a try and crochet her a little owl to take back to school with her. Here is how he turned out!

I also made the most AWESOME cobbler last night! It was the best I've ever had! I got the recipe HERE!

I used a DEEP DISH pie plate , and I'm glad I did! It really poofs up while it's baking. Here is how it looked before I put it in the oven.

And here is how it came out!!
SOOOOOOO good!!! You have to try it!!

Thanks for visiting!

Valentine Hearts

It's Rednesday over at It's A Very Cherry World! Check it out and join in the fun!
These are some Red Valentine things I Made this week! A crocheted Red heart and some heart garland that I will be hanging in my kitchen window.

I've been having so much fun making all these Valentine hearts this week! I found the idea for the garland HERE. I had to use the fabric I already had in the house though so mine looks quite different. but I like it!! The crocheted heart pattern is from HERE. I didn't notice that the pattern said to use 2 strands of yarn at the same time until I was all done. lol. Oh well... I'm not going to use it as a hot pad anyway, I just wanted some hearts for my dining room table.

I also started making some felt Red and Pink heart ornaments, they are only half finished. I wanted to make a tree like this one HERE, but my problem is it's all snow and ice here in Chicago so I can't find any tree branches anywhere! :( I went to the craft store and looked in the floral dept, I thought maybe I could find some type of branches that I could paint but they didn't have anything like that, so now I don't know what I will hang them on. I want to make a tree!!! waaaaaaaaaaaaa....
Oh well, I'll have to think of something..... Hope you enjoyed taking a peek at all of my my Red heart Valentine crafts.

Kitchen Nic Nacs

Hi all, hope you're having a good week and getting ready for the New Year. I'm going to stay home and have a nice relaxing New years Eve (hubby has to work) . I'll probably work on some crafts and I'm also going to have one more splurge (and then I'm going on Weight Watchers for the new year) which is one of my favorite dips, BLT Dip. It's sooo bad for you! But I LOVE it!! LOL! I use Whole Wheat toast with mine and cut each slice up into 4 little squares. YUMMY!!!! I can't wait!! And then that's it!! Back to Weight Watchers! I need to lose about 30 pounds.... :(

Well, back to the kitchen nic nacs... I'm sharing with you today some of the nic nacs I have on my cabinet corner shelves in the kitchen and 1 of my cookie jars on top of the fridge. Hope you enjoy.

This shelf has my little stove collection (well ok only 2 stoves lol) I would to have a whole doll house to decorate with miniatures but our house is to small ,no room for a hobby like that. I was thinking of fixing up some type of wooden box or shelves or something to create little doll house rooms to decorate. Something that wouldn't take up a lot of space, but that I could still have fun decorating and creating. I love miniatures!
some birdie stuff
some roosters
roosters and cows
More birdie stuff. I love cardinals!
vintage roosters and yankee candle
more roosters and a tin my daughter bought years ago when she was in grade school and went to Hershey PA. She's 25 now so it's old but I still like it, especially because it was a sweet gift from her.
Hope you enjoyed your visit.
Have a blessed day!

Just Crocheting and relaxing...

Hi everyone! Hope you all had a Happy Christmas! I'm just glad it's all over ! I'm looking forward to not having anywhere to go and just sitting around and crocheting or working some of the other crafts that I've started.... I'm working on this baby blanket right now! I'm using Lion Brand baby soft yarn in Pistachio and Cream. It's for my daughters boyfriends sister, she already had the baby, I was supposed to have the blanket ready but with the holidays I fell behind... Oh well, she'll get it! soon..... lol.
I don't care for the colors much but that's what the nursery colors are so..... what can I say... Kinda blah... I like to work with something more colorful.
And I still have this big ripple blanket to finish! I love the way it's coming out but I haven't been working on it either! So I am looking forward to having some nice relaxing crochet time now that Christmas is over.
I've been wanting to try a few new crafts that I've never done. One is Clothespin dolls (check out "clothespin doll groups" on flickr) I am amazed at what beautiful little dolls people make from clothespins. Such beautiful work. I've tried a bit so far but making those teeny tiny dresses is hard!! At least for me it is! I can sew and crochet and I can't seem to make a decent dress for a clothespin doll!! arrrgggg!! It's really bugging me! lol. I thought they would be fun to make.... So when mine were not turning out, I got discouraged and put my doll making supplies away ... lol.
Then there are Rag Dolls or Annnies as some people call them. I ordered a few patterns from Oh Sew Dollin about 3 years ago and never made them so I want to give that a try! (she also has some new patterns that I want) I don't know how that will go.....I always get all pumped up on some new craft , go out and spend all sorts of money buying the supplies and then when they don't turn out like I thought I get discouraged and give up. hehehe.. that's just me!
I think I will go to the fabric store today and see if I can get some muslin to cut out a doll pattern.
Hope you have a wonderful day!

Banana Cake

Hi fellow bloggers, How is everyone doing? Busy I'm sure, with all the holiday stuff. I've been busy myself.. Boy, the days are really flying by lately! I can't believe Christmas is so close now....

I had a big bunch of bananas on my counter that were really super ripe so I thought it was a good time to make a banana cake! Thought I would share....Here is the recipe!

1 1/2 sticks of butter
1lb brown sugar
4 eggs
cream until fluffy.
add 5-6 mashed bananas

4 cups flour
2 tsp baking soda
pinch of salt
add to creamed mixture
add 8 Tbsp sour cream
2tsp vanilla
1 cup chopped nuts
pour into greased tube pan

bake 350 degrees
for 1 hour or until done (I had to bake mine 1 hour 20 mins) but all ovens are different so check after 1 hour for doneness and go from there...

I used this tube pan but you could use a 9x11 or 2 8x9 pans too.
Here it is fresh out of the oven! Mmmmm.... it smells soooo good!
You can serve it plain like this, or if you want you can frost it with cream cheese frosting. We like it with frosting.

Cream cheese frosting:
1 stick butter (softened)
1 8oz cream cheese (softened)
1 tsp vanilla
3 cups powdered sugar
Blend until smooth
Add a bit of milk if needed
Hope you enjoyed my Banana Cake recipe.

Thanks for stopping by!
Blessings,

Milk Glass

It's "show and tell Friday" again over at Cindy's blog "My Romantic Home". Stop over and give her a visit and share in the fun.

Today I am showing some of my milk glass vases. I have about 19 vases. I collected all of these from the thrift store in my neighborhood. I LOVE milk glass!! And I LOVE searching for treasures at the thrift store!!

I started about a year or so ago and I usually find 1 or 2 each time I visit . I need to visit more often... lol. I had not been there in about six months and just started to go there again. I was trying to cut down on the amount of junk oops... I mean beautiful vintage collectibles that I brought into the house, lol. (we have a very small house with almost no storage space) so I have to be careful or things kinda pile up around here!

I also have other milk glass pieces that I found at the thrift store or other resale shops , like creamers and sugars and planters etc.. I'll have to share those in a future post...

Hope you enjoyed seeing some of my thrift store milk glass!

Have a great weekend!
Blessings!
